Search days — open water, points, and flats where fish are scattered. Clear to lightly stained water favors lighter finishes like Green Ghost; go darker if the water turns muddy.

• Direct tie. Fluorocarbon is a solid default; braid when you're around heavy grass.
• Line diameter changes how hard a crank digs — lighter line usually means more wobble.
